Medication and Care Review (MCR)
The Medication and Care Review (or MCR) introduces the ETP system for repeat prescriptions in Scotland. It allows patients with long-term conditions to register with a community pharmacy of their choice for the provision of pharmaceutical care as part of a shared agreement between the patient, community pharmacist and GP.
The former name for the Medication and Care Review (MCR) was the Chronic Medication Service (CMS).
You can access ePharmacy from the ProScript Connect Main Screen by clicking the button or pressing [Ctrl+E].
MCR data is marked with an MCR tag. You can amend the Filters within ePharmacy Manager to display only MCR prescriptions by selecting the ETP radio button and MCR from the Service drop-down menu.
Processing MCR Prescriptions
Stage 1: MCR Patient Registrations
The first stage in the process is to register the patient to MCR. Patient registration can take up to 72 hours to be picked up by ePharmacy, which is why you can manually update a registration status to dispense MCR prescriptions, until such time it is picked up in the background.

Managing MCR Prescriptions
Managing MCR Owings
ProScript Connect fully caters for the creation and redeeming of owings for MCR prescriptions.
Managing MCR Due Dates
To avoid a patient having to come back to the pharmacy twice for two different MCR prescriptions, you can synchronise the due dates for all prescriptions for that patient, so that the patient can come collect their prescriptions on a single due date.

The system also enables you to print and/or export an MCR claim report.
