The Head Office Restrictions Manager enables you to apply specific restrictions to items within a template, which you can then publish, as a pharmacy group head office, to the branches within the group. These restrictions determine whether a specific product, either a generic or a brand, displays when attempting to dispense or order an item at branch level.
Below is a list of the available restriction types and priorities:
Name | Description |
A, a | This can be used for branded or PI items and will restrict to this item whether it is prescribed as a brand or a generic. If the A restriction is applied against a generic item, it will work the same way as applying a G restriction. |
B, b | This can be used to restrict to a certain brand or PI. This restriction only applies when the brand is prescribed. |
G, g | This can be used to restrict to a certain generic but can also be applied to a branded or PI product for when an item is prescribed generically but you want to restrict to the brand. |
M, m | This can be used to restrict to a certain minor ailment item. This restriction only applies when the Minor Ailment Rx type is selected. This restriction type is for Scotland only. |
Normal (Priority) | Normal priority restrictions are used for the first preference item, and will supersede low priority restrictions for drugs in the same family. They are displayed as uppercase letters (A, B, G, M). |
Low (Priority) | Low priority restrictions will only display in instances where there are no normal priority restrictions, as they are regarded as the second preference item. They are displayed as lowercase letters (a, b, g, m). |
You can access the Restrictions Manager from the top left-hand corner of the ProScript Connect Main Screen by clicking and then from within the Head Office sub-category, clicking Restrictions Manager.
Creating and Publishing Templates
Stage 1: Managing Templates
The first stage in the process is to select the restrictions template. If there is no template available, you have the option to add a new template, duplicate or import an existing template, or import an existing third-party template, from either ProScript or ProScript Connect. You also have the option to edit and delete templates as required.
Stage 2: Adding or Removing Restrictions
The second stage in the process is to add to and remove item restrictions from the template as required. You can add and remove individual item restrictions or two or more restrictions as part of a batch.

Stage 3: Adding, Editing or Deleting Pack Notes
The third stage in the process is to add, edit or delete item pack notes. You have the option to push that additional information through with the item restrictions when publishing the template.

Stage 4: Previewing Template Changes
The fourth stage in the process would be to review the changes you have made to the template, such as the addition and removal of restrictions and pack notes. The Preview Restrictions Changes utility compares the template as it currently stands with the previously saved/published template.
