My Local Pharmacy (MLP)

My Local Pharmacy is an additional module available within ProScript Connect. To place an order, please contact you Technology Development Manager (TDM)

Patients can download the My Local Pharmacy (MLP) application to their smartphone or tablet directly from their device’s app store. The app will allow them to:

  • Register at your pharmacy
  • Send repeat medication requests
  • View your pharmacy details (address, opening hours, and services offered)
  • Set medication reminders to aid adherence
  • View medical condition leaflets from Patient.co.uk
  • Find local health services

Within the MLP Manager on ProScript Connect you will be able to manage both patient registrations and their repeat requests using dedicated MLP statuses, which will send push notifications to the patient advising them of the progress of their request up until it’s ready for delivery or collection. A browser-based MLP Admin dashboard is also available to manage branch details, opening hours and services, global and local promotions, messages and account details.

There are two paths to process a My Local Pharmacy repeat request from start to finish:

  • As a regular MLP repeat request
  • As an MM MLP repeat request

You can access the MLP module from the ProScript Connect Main Screen by clicking the button if available or by clicking PSC_proscriptconnectmenu > MLP Manager.

Processing an MLP Patient Registration

The first stage of the process is to accept and/or reject the patient’s registration request to your pharmacy. The patient can only start requesting medication repeat requests once the pharmacy has accepted their registration.

Accepting an MLP Repeat Request

Once you have accepted a patient registration, the patient will be able to send a medication repeat request via their smartphone or tablet app, which will then be sent to the MLP Manager. Accepted requests can be sent to the GP as normal, or via Medicines Manager if the patient is eligible and registered for the service.

Processing an MLP Repeat Request

Once a medication repeat request has been accepted, you can create and process a repeat request from start to finish. The process will vary depending on whether the request is being processed via Medicines Manager or not.

Once a repeat request has been accepted via MM, the repeat request is automatically created within the RMS, and therefore to process the request the only step is to dispense the prescription from either the RMS or ETP once the prescription has been downloaded.

To process any MM prescription you must be logged in to the NHS Spine with your smart card and your patient must be eligible and registered for Medicines Manager.

Managing MLP Repeat Requests

It is important to update the statuses within the RMS and MLP Manager where applicable and required. Updating statuses within MLP will send the patient push notifications to their smart phone or tablet if they have this enabled.
