The Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) will be rolled out from February 2019 to improve the safety and security of medicines supplied in Europe. Our FMD solution will provide dispensaries with the ability to authenticate prescription medication before they are given to patients.
To gain a better understanding of what FMD is all about, you might find the below links to a PDF and webinar from the PSNC useful.

ProScript Connect’s FMD solution provides:
- Aggregated barcode scanning which allows you to decommission several packs on the same prescription.
- FMD scanning feedback to notify you immediately on-screen of any verification/decommissioning errors, including if the pack has previously been supplied, or has been stolen or recalled.
- Integrated accuracy checks to maximise clinical accuracy, ensuring the correct packs are dispensed against prescribed items.
- Automated expiry date check to save you time by removing the need to manually check expiration dates on medication.
- Batch mode functionality to decommission medication for walk-in patients.
- Business continuity during offline periods to send all back-logged scanning to the National Medicines Verification System (NMVS).
The are three FMD module windows within ProScript Connect which can be accessed from the top left-hand corner of the ProScript Connect Main Screen by clicking the [ProScript Connect] menu button and selecting the FMD Workload, FMD History and FMD Request menu items as required.
