Performing an NHS Flu Service PGD

The PharmOutcomes website can be used to record various NHS services you have provided to your patients. The dispensing and recording of NHS Flu Service PGDs have now been integrated into ProScript Connect.

Login to PharmOutComes and Select the Service 

You will need to be accredited to deliver the NHS Flu Service, by enrolling onto the service via the PharmOutcomes website.

  1. To begin, login to PharmOutcomes via ProScript Connect.
  2. Select the PharmOutcomes button from within the patient’s PMR. The Select PharmOutcomes Service window displays. Select the Advanced Service – Flu 2020/21 from the list and select the [F10 – Select Service] button.

Record the Service Provision in PharmOutcomes

  1. The PharmOutcomes web page displays in a new browser window. You are advised that you must perform an extra security validation to access sensitive data. Enter the characters from your security word into the boxes as requested and select the [Submit] button.

  1. The Advanced Service – Flu 2020/21 web page displays. Complete the form accurately. Certain demographic information will already be populated for you, taken from the patient’s PMR in ProScript Connect. Select the [Save] button when complete.

  1. The PharmOutcomes Services web page displays. A green box at the top of the page confirms that the Advanced Service Flu 2020/21 provision was successfully entered and saved. You can now return to ProScript Connect.

Dispense the Medication

  1. A Flu Service prompt displays on the patient’s PMR. You can choose to either:
    • Select the [Dispense] button if you wish to continue with dispensing the medication immediately;
    • Select the [Save and Dispense Later] button if you wish to dispense the medication later on in the day;
    • Select the [Cancel] button if you wish to cancel dispensing the medication.

If you select the [Dispense] button without completing the service provision on PharmOutcomes, a prompt will display advising you of this.

  1. Select the [Dispense] button. The Dispense PhO prescription window displays, with the Enter Quantity tab opened by default. The Rx Type in the background has been automatically set to PGD (NHS). Notice that the Prescribed Item has been automatically pre-selected, to match the item that was selected when recording the provision on PharmOutcomes. Review the quantity and select the [F10 – OK] button.

  1. The Enter Dosage Information tab is selected. Enter the dosage information as required and select the [F10 – OK] button.
  2. The Enter Batch Number and Expiry Date Prescription Details window displays. The Expiry Date and Batch Number fields have been pre-populated with the information entered when the service provision was recorded on PharmOutcomes. Select the [F10 – Save] button to close the window.

 

Completing the Service

  1. The patient’s PMR displays with the drug added within the first quadrant. To complete the service, select the [F8 – Last Item] button.

  1. The Prescription Type preview displays. The F7 – Don’t Print Labels and F8 – Don’t Endorse tick boxes are automatically selected by default. Confirm the details and select the [F10 – Save] button. The ProScript Connect main screen displays.
