Pharmacy First (England) Urgent Medicine Supply
This service was formerly known as Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (CPCS).
When dispensing medicines under the Pharmacy First Urgent Medicine Supply the following guidance is recommended:
- When recording Urgent Supplies:
- Supplies should be made against the Emergency Supply: Patient Request (sale) RX Type, and the text Pharmacy First Urgent Medicine Supply can be added to the Emergency Prescription Reason box, to allow flagging in the Prescription reports.
- Blank FP10 Dispensing Token should be used to record supplies of any medicines or appliances where the patient is exempt from the prescription charge.
- The following record is available to record an Urgent Medicine Supply Referral on the PMR. The dosage instructions can be used to add any details to the record.
You can run the Patient/Drug Use report to identify these patients.
Counselling Notes can also be used to record any additional information. By using the text Pharmacy First Urgent Supply in the note, they can be flagged in Counselling Notes Manager reports, e.g. if no supply is made or if advice only was provided.
