- From the ProScript Connect Main Screen, search for and select the patient.
- The Patient Medication Record displays.
Changing the Rx Type
- From the PMR, press [F2 – Rx Type] .
- A drop-down menu displays, with a list of all available Rx Types. Select the Private Rx Type.
- The Patient Medication Record prescription colour updates to match the selected prescription type.
Dispensing the Item
- From the Patient Medication Record, press [ENTER].
- The Dispense New Prescription window displays. Notice the Select Prescribed Item tab is selected.
- Search for and select an item by pressing [F10 – Select].
- The Enter Quantity tab is selected.
- Enter the quantity in the field.
- Select the RPP tick box or press [R] on your keyboard.
- Press [F10 – OK].
- The Enter Dosage Information tab is selected.
- Enter the dosage code in the field and press [ENTER]. The dosage description displays in the section below. If you want to add more than one dosage description, repeat the process.
- When you are done, press [F10 – OK].
Creating the RPP Schedule
The RPP Schedule tab is selected.
Completing the Item Section
The Item section enables you to complete the prescription date, appropriate date, quantity prescribed, number of repeats specified, total number of repeats, episodes previously dispensed and the quantity to supply.

Completing the Prescription Date
The Prescription Date is the date at which the prescription was written by the private GP and defaults to the current date. This field is mandatory and can be edited as required.
Completing the Appropriate Date
The Appropriate Date is the date before which the prescription cannot be dispensed. It defaults to the current date. This field is mandatory and can be edited as required.
Completing the Quantity Prescribed
The Quantity Prescribed defaults to the previously entered quantity. This field can be edited if required. Note that this quantity applies for each repeat.
Completing the Number of Repeats Specified
The Number of Repeats Specified is selected by default. If you de-select this tick box, one of two case scenarios are possible:
- if the drug is an oral contraceptive, ProScript Connect automatically creates six episodes in the Schedule section: the initial episode and five repeat episodes
- if the drug is not an oral contraceptive, ProScript Connect automatically creates two episodes in the Schedule section: the initial episode and one repeat episode
Completing the Total Number of Repeats
The Total Number of Repeats is the number of repeats as written on the prescription. This field is mandatory.
Completing the Number of Episodes Previously Dispensed
The number of Episodes Previously Dispensed marks the first (few) applicable episode(s) as Elsewhere and the following applicable episode to be dispensed as Dispense Now.
Completing the Quantity to Supply
The Quantity to Supply defaults to the previously entered quantity. This field can be edited as required.
Completing the Dosage Instructions Section
The Dosage Instructions section is populated with the dosage instructions you have previously entered, but you can edit it as required by pressing [F7 – Amend Dosage].
Selecting the Schedule Type
The Schedule Type section enables you to select the schedule frequency. It can be set to:
- None, which will populate the episodes with the date at which they were dispensed
- Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Quarterly, which will populate the episodes with the relevant dates at the set frequency
- Other, which prompts you to enter the interval between two episodes in the Days field, after which the schedule will populate the episodes with the relevant dates
Viewing the Schedule
Notice the Schedule section updates accordingly depending on the selected Appropriate Date, Total Number of Repeats and Schedule Type frequency.
Within the Schedule section you can also use the [F4 – Dispense All Episodes] button to mark all repeat episodes as Dispense Now, or use the [F6 – Select Next Episode] to mark the next episode as Dispense Now.
The first episode is selected and marked as Dispense Now by default. If you do not wish to mark the episode as dispensed now, you can deselect the tick box or amend the Status drop-down.
Entering Notes
You can enter notes against each of the episodes by highlighting the episode and entering notes in the Notes field, these will automatically populate in the Notes column for the episode selected.
Saving the RPP Schedule
- When you are done, press [F10 – Save].
- The Patient Medication Record displays, with the selected item in the first quadrant.
- Press [F8 – Last Item].
- If you had previously left the first episode selected for dispensing, the system will generate a label for the episode.
- The Prescription Type preview displays.
- Press [F10 – Save].
- A pop-up window displays advising you to manually endorse the private prescription. Press [OK].
- A pop-up window displays, advising you that one or more episodes of the RPP schedule have been dispensed, which will create an entry in the private prescriptions register, and asking whether you want to mark this (these) episode(s) as collected.
- Click [No].
- If the configuration setting is enabled, a third pop-up window may display, asking whether you want to raise an invoice for this prescription.
- Click [No].
- The ProScript Search Screen displays.
