From 1st April 2024, the pack size listings of Xarelto® (Rivaroxaban) 1mg/ml granules for oral suspension have been updated to reflect the volume of water added for reconstitution (rather than bottle sizes).
The 250ml bottle has now been updated to 100ml (volume of water added for reconstitution) in the April 2024 Drug Tariff and DMD (licensed for patients weighing 4kg or more).
The 100ml bottle has now been updated to 50ml (volume of water added for reconstitution). This pack is hospital only and licensed for children weighing less than 4kg.
Until prescribing and dispensing systems are aligned, you may receive prescriptions for the older pack size (i.e. the bottle size) and may need seek clarity from the prescriber regarding the quantity required by the patient. Where appropriate you may need to request amendments to prescriptions or amend the quantity when processing the EPS prescription, as it would be less than the quantity stated on prescription due to these changes.
Note: The two available pack sizes are licensed for different age groups.
